This cosplayer has some epic and some adorable…comments as well as cosplays. Be sure to show her some love!
Hi, how do people know you?
Bean J. Bunny
What is your favorite beverage?
Jasmine green tea. I make myself a huge mug when I start working.
Tell me a little about yourself?
I first came to cosplay from garment construction and design. I stayed because I could learn all of these other awesome skills, like prop making and armor making.
When did you start cosplaying?
Nine years ago, in 2009.
Why did you start cosplaying?
I didn’t want anyone to recognize me at a convention! This is dumb, of course, because if you’re in a cool costume, everyone wants your picture.
Who are your cosplay idols?
My friend @louthreepwood on Instagram. Her Paula is totally my favorite.
What type of cosplays do you do?
Video games, mostly. I do a LOT of Nintendo. I also have costumes from Undertale, Chrono Trigger and Mass Effect.
What are your favorite cosplays?
Lucca from Chrono Trigger, Cynthia from Fire Emblem, Undyne from Undertale, Cadette Toadette
What is something you want to cosplay but probably never will?
I have a joke with a friend that we’ll someday do a big daddy and little sister. I would be piloting the big daddy and he would be the little sister, beard and all.
Do you make, buy, or special order your cosplays?
I make them all. …. I guess I bought the shirt and hat to be Ness though, but that’s more of an outfit to travel to conventions in.
What do you love about cosplay?
The hard work that goes into it, and the huge skill set that you have to have.
What is the most difficult thing for you about cosplay?
I’m actually not good in front of a camera! I can sew for days, but I have to have a lot of help when someone takes my picture.
Who is your favorite character to cosplay?
Maybe Toadette. That’s a hard choice though, I love a lot of my costumes.
If you could live in or visit any fantasy world, where would you go?
The Mario universe. Everyone is upbeat without being cloying.
Where do you get your inspiration for your cosplays?
Mostly I work on either characters I like or costumes I think I can show off a skill with.
What are your “fandoms”?
Nintendo is my main one! Mario, Splatoon, Zelda, I like them all.
What is something you wish beginning cosplayers knew?
You have good ideas. That thought you had about that prop or that extra piece of flair isn’t dumb, it’s something that you need to look into and pursue, because it’s something that’s going to set your costume apart from everyone else’s.
What tips do you have for other cosplayers?
Accept that you’re going to need to learn a bunch of different skills and set yourself forward to learn them right now. Do you know how to sew? You’re going to learn. Do you know how to work with foam? You’re going to learn. There’s plenty of help on the Internet to get you started. … or, if you get really confused, just message me, I’ll get you going. XD
What is something you wish non-cosplayers knew?
Cosplayers like attention. The kindest thing you can do is to tell us that you like our costumes. We love pictures, too. If you want to follow us on our social media pages, we’d be over the moon about it.
What cosplays are you working on?
I’m finishing up a moogle! I’m also working on a Salmon Runner inkling from Splatoon.
What cosplays do you want to do if money and time were no object?
I’m going to ~try~ a ball gown this year. I’ve left myself plenty of time to mitigate the time/money factor, hopefully.
Where can people find your cosplays?
I’d love it if you followed me! facebook.com/beanbunnycosplay, beancosplay.tumblr.com, instagram.com/beancosplay and youtube.com/beanbunnycosplay
Anything else to say?
I’ll take this spot right here to shout out to my husband, the best cosplay partner that anyone could ever want.
Please remember I do not own any of these pictures and the opinions in this survey belong to the interviewee.
