Weirdies Supporting Weirdies!

Cosplayer Spotlight – Jacy

This cosplayer is a super adorable way to start the week. I’m getting ready head to #OUATCHI this weekend. What are all you cosplayers up to?

Hi, WHAT’S your Name?

My name? Uh.. Well, Truth be told… Jacy is my cosplay name! My real name is a mystery you may never know… Actually it’s probably easy to find out since it’s the internet.

What is your favorite beverage?

Let’s see, well. I mean… Peace Tea is my favorite brand of drink. It’s so sweet and fully natural! No artificial anything! I emailed them a year or so ago telling them to go back to selling at a local store I usually got them from, but they didn’t because the store wouldn’t lower their prices on the tea, but I found them at a dollar store and gas station. I haven’t had some in a while and miss it a lot!

Tell me a little about yourself?

A little something, something about myself? I am a total nerd and shy in person, but I have more confidence online (like everyone else) because I’m behind a screen. I stream here and there on twitch (Xx0Jacy0xX) playing mostly Killing Floor 2. I love to read, write, draw, game, cook/bake, game, and cosplay for fun. I am going to college for game design and hope to create games for a living or be a cosplayer for a living. It would be even better if I could do both at the same time for a living. I’m a collector of pop figures (keychain and regular size), soon to be anime figures! The simple things in life make me smile and feel good! FUN FACT! I am 4 ft and 8.25 inches tall. THE .25 COUNTS!

When did you start cosplaying?

Well, it depends on your deinition of cosplay. If cosplaying has to be of a certain character from a show/movie or game, then I started November of 2017. If cosplaying is dressing up and looking totally different (like an OC, but it doesn’t go with a show) then I have been cosplaying since summer of 2013, when I got my first wig at Anime Expo in California (my first con I went to)!

Why did you start cosplaying?

I actually don’t know why I started… I guess it was just that I wanted too. I felt like I would have fun and feel good! When I first dressed up back in 2013, I felt awesome! People were staring, which made me nervous, but when Halloween came around I always went all out and everyone loved my outfits! I cosplayed an OC of Nightmare Before Christmas’ Jack and Sally’s daughter. I named her Toxic and at work people kept asking for pictures and kids felt it was an honor to hug me! One even called me the princess of Halloween, I was so happy and amazed! I felt I should do more!

Who are your cosplay idols?

I actually don’t have anyone in particular that’s an “idol” per say, but I have several I look up to. I look up to everyone that works hard at cosplay and loves it with all their heart.

What types of cosplay do you do?

I do any cosplays I like (mainly anime), but only from things I know. I don’t want to do cosplays from anywhere I don’t know, I think it’s slightly offensive to cosplay the character, but know nothing about them!

What are your favorite cosplays?

I loved doing my Nightmare Before Christmas OC. As I mentioned before she is the daughter of Jack and Sally, and I called her Toxic! I also love doing my Shiro cosplay from No Game No Life!

What is something you want to cosplay but probably never will?

There is no cosplay that I’d want to do, but never will. If I put my mind to it, I will do it! My main thing is to do one cosplay at a time, I get excited and I want to do them all at once!

Do you make, buy, or special order your cosplays?

I buy them mainly, but if it’s a part I can make, I will do my best to make it! If I have the money I will special order the cosplay if I can’t find it any where. Once I made up my mind I won’t go back on it and will do everything I can to do it.

What do you love about cosplay?

Hmm.. The aspect of how you can bring the character to your perspective. I love seeing peoples different perspective of the character and I love how some cosplayers will act as the character while they cosplay! That’s what I play to do at conventions!

What is the most difficult thing for you about cosplay?

Money, definitely the money aspect. It is expensive! Also, It is hard to search and search the internet for a good place to order from. For example, checking the sites and the items. Looking at the sites reputation and reviews of the product. It’s a lot to do, but it’s worth it!

If you could live in or visit any fantasy world, where would you go?

I would visit the countries my ancestors are from (Italy, Canada, France, England, etc.) and Japan, then I would probably live in England, if I felt I could live there comfortably!

Where do you get your inspiration for your cosplays?

My inspiration… The characters themselves! If I find them moving or I like them, I will want to do my best to cosplay them! Shiro, I found her amazing and cute, that’s why I want to cosplay her!

What are your “fandoms”?

Oh, uh… I have so many!! Basically a bunch of anime, a few games, and only one show. Supernatural is the show, Mario, Left 4 Dead, Halo, and Killing floor are the games, and the anime list is so long you’d have to dive a few hours to see the end! I mainly like the older anime like Inuyasha and Ranma 1/2, just to name the more common ones.

What tips do you have for other cosplayers?

Do your research! Search around about the convention you are going to, and search everywhere to see if you can find a cheap, but still good version. If you don’t want to buy anything then craft it! You gotta know some serious fashion sewing stuff! I actually regret not taking fashion class back in high school…

What is something you wish non-cosplayers knew?

Cosplay is NOT consent! Do NOT touch a cosplayer without asking! Do NOT take their picture without permission! You want to do something? ASK! We aren’t there for you to be sexual with or be on display for you to touch. There are too many people think they can do anything they want too to a cosplayer. It’s what gets some people to quit or not even start, we are people treat us with respect.

What cosplays are you working on?

Cosplans… For now I am working on my line up for a convention I am going to in July, 2018. First day I will be doing Kanna Kamui from Miss Koyobashi’s Dagon Maid, second will be Shiro from No Game No Life, and the third is going to be Ruby Rose from RWBY.

What cosplays do you want to do if money or time were no object?

All of the characters in RWBY (genderbending the males) and many many many many others!

Where can people find your cosplays?

Well, I have an instagram (@Jacy.anne.wolf), I occasionally cosplay on twitch (Xx0Jacy0xX), I have a Patreon at Jacy Anne Wolf, and I have a Ko-fi at jacyannewolf! Also, if you want to see me in person I will be at Kitsune Kon this July in Greem Bay, Wisconsin!

Please remember I do not own any of these pictures and the opinions in this survey belong to the interviewee.
