This cosplayer has such imaginative cosplays and a great take on the cosplayer life! I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did. Don’t forget to comment and follow this cosplayer.
Hi, what’s your name?
I go by Louise or Tony mainly, my cosplay name is A Stark Comparison, I also have a cosplay photography page which is Niflheim Cosplay Photography
What is your favorite beverage?
Pinning down a favourite is a hard one, I love a lot of different juices but I adore Fanta Fruit Twist, it reminds me of my grandparents, they always had it in their fridge
When did you start cosplaying?
I’d say around 2009? I’d gone to conventions before but never cosplayed until I met a bunch of people at college who got me into it and it’s escalated from there! It was a learning curve for sure as I cannot sew!
Why did you start cosplaying?
I started cosplaying because my friends were into it, it looked like a fun way to express myself without being judged harshly. I carry it on now because I love showing off the cosplays I wear! It gives me space from the real world for a while.
Who are your cosplay idols?
One of the biggest Idols I have is MerriWeather Rose Costumes, she’s amazing and always makes her cosplays by hand! She’s an incredible seamstress! I also look up to KellyJane and Emrys costumes, great people and amazing cosplayers!
What type of cosplays do you do?
I’ve done a lot of different cosplays, my first was Zexion from Kingdom Hearts, from there I’ve done anime, american cartoons, video games, superheroes ! Honestly I do just about anything I want to with it
What are your favorite cosplays?
My absolute favourite cosplay is Sofia the First from the kids disney show, the feeling when a little kid believes you’re a princess is like no other, they inspire me to better my cosplay skills!
What is something you want to cosplay but probably never will?
Ohhhh that’s a tough one…I’d love to cosplay Hetalia, it was on my list from the beginning but I’ll probably never get around to it, the list is endless! Another awesome one would be Link from Breath of the Wild, again the list of cosplays is endless!
Do you make, buy, or special order, your cosplays?
Normally I bat my eyes at my wonderful fiancee to help me make cosplay, I cannot sew and she’s a goddess! When I first started I did buy my cosplays but quickly found other ways as buying them is normally super expensive. I make the props and armour that’ll be needed, hot glue and foam is more my speed when it comes to making things.
What do you love about cosplay?
It’s a great way to socialise and destress, i’ve made a lot of great friends through cosplay. It’s also a talking point with friends outside cosplay, they’re always interested in what I’m up to next!
What is the most difficult thing for you about cosplay?
The cost, sadly it’s not the cheapest hobby in the world but with a little know how the cost does drop. To start with the hotels are a lot of money and the ticket prices are going up and up, it’s a shame but I make it happen none the less.
Who is your favorite character to cosplay?
I mainly go for people who are my polar opposite, so Tony Stark or Amora the Enchantress! They are both strong and egotistical characters which I’m not but it gives me that sense of arrogance when cosplaying them. Tony Stark especially for me as Robert Downey Jr is an amazing actor, everything from the way he walks to the way he problem solves (or lack of it) is good fun to portray.
If you could live in or visit any fantasy world, where would you go?
I’d go to the Overwatch universe, it’s brightly coloured, hi-tech and full of amazing characters. Saying that, I’d love to go to Beach City from Steven Universe, just seems like theres always something going down!
Where do you get your inspiration for your cosplays?
Short answer? Everywhere! Games, TV series, Movies, Anime, Cartoons and Comics! Other cosplayers too! Inspiration is everywhere if you have the cosplay bug.
What are your “fandoms”?
I’m in a lot of fandoms at the moment, my top 5 are Harry Potter, Marvel, Overwatch, Starwars and Yuri on Ice! I have many many more, probably too many!
What is something you wish beginning cosplayers knew?
Don’t be afraid of going up to people and saying hi, there’s a lot of people who don’t have the confidence to approach someone and say hello! Also cosplay is for everyone, irregardless!
What tips or tricks do you have for other cosplayers?
Be safe, be smart and most of all be awesome!
What is something you wish non-cosplayers knew?
I wish they new how to respect cosplayers and the talent that goes into the costumes, a lot of people don’t understand how much money some cosplays can cost and need to be more respectful.
What cosplays are you working on?
Currently for the 2018 season I’m working on props for Sombra and Symmetra, Sofia the First’s necklace and I’m sure this list will get longer as the year progresses and the time frame gets tighter.
What cosplays do you want to do if money and time were no object?
Something a lot of people have done and thats IronMan mrk 6, it’s amazing and I’d love to show off the suit, as well as someone from World of Warcraft, it takes a lot of time to get the methods right to make armour and sadly I don’t have the time.
